RegisterLink

RegisterLink is a Kinde Next.js component for starting user registration. Render it with link content, and optionally provide orgCode to target a specific organization.

How it works

RegisterLink is a Next.js component supplied by the Kinde SDK. Place it in a page and provide link content; selecting it starts the Kinde authentication flow, with optional organization targeting through the orgCode prop.

Syntax

<RegisterLink orgCode="organization_code">Sign up</RegisterLink>

Parameters

NameTypeDescription
orgCodestringOptional Kinde organization code used to target a specific organization.

Returns

A rendered link component that starts the Kinde registration/authentication flow.

Key points

  • RegisterLink starts Kinde’s authentication flow when rendered as part of a Next.js page.
  • Import RegisterLink from the Next.js SDK components module.
  • Supply visible child content, such as “Sign up,” to label the link.
  • Pass orgCode when the link must direct the user toward a specific organization.

Common mistakes

  • Use orgCode when the registration link should target a particular organization.

Example: Basic registration link

import { RegisterLink } from "@kinde-oss/kinde-auth-nextjs/components";

export default function Home() {
  return <RegisterLink>Sign up</RegisterLink>;
}

Renders a link that starts Kinde’s registration flow.

When to use it

Start registration

A public sign-up entry point is needed on a Next.js page.

Target an organization

Registration must be associated with a known Kinde organization.

Interview questions

QWhat is RegisterLink used for?

RegisterLink is a component from @kinde-oss/kinde-auth-nextjs/components. Rendering it with child content creates a link that starts the authentication flow.

Follow-up: How would you target an organization? Pass the organization code through the orgCode prop on RegisterLink.

QHow do you add a registration link in Next.js?

Import RegisterLink from the SDK components package and render it in a page, for example with “Sign up” as its child content. Clicking it begins registration through Kinde.

Follow-up: What should change if the application uses a different SDK? Use that SDK’s documented registration mechanism rather than assuming the Next.js component is available.

QHow can RegisterLink select an organization?

The component accepts an orgCode parameter that lets users authenticate for a specific organization. This is useful when the application needs to associate the flow with a known organization.

Follow-up: What value should be supplied? Provide the organization’s Kinde organization code, such as the documented org_... example.
