Autovacuum

PostgreSQL uses VACUUM to maintain tables: it reuses space, refreshes planner statistics, updates visibility data, and freezes old rows. Autovacuum performs this work automatically when table activity reaches configured thresholds.

VACUUM [ ( option [, ...] ) ] [ table_and_columns [, ...] ]
ANALYZE [ ( option [, ...] ) ] [ table_and_columns [, ...] ]
